Top Google/Baidu Search Topics

14 February 2008

I was bombing around the net and came across an article that lists the top searches by English speaking users on Google and top 10 searches by Chinese Internet users.  The Top 10 list was broken down into four categories:

The top ten “What is” questions on Google.

The top ten “How to” questions on Google.

The top ten “What is”  on Baidu (top Chinese S.E).

The top ten “How to” questions on Baidu.

The Chinese users had some interesting topics: #1 What is a mutual fund,  #2 What are warrants…

The English users #1 What is love, #2 What is Autism…

There was nothing overly funny about either of the “What is” lists but then I got to the “How to” lists and found myself literally laughing out loud.

The #1 thing Chinese users wanted to know how to do was lose weight. Health is important and so is self-image, I could see how that was easily a hot topic.

Then I moved on to the English speakers and found that the number one thing they wanted to know how to do was…

Kiss.Life Magazine Sailor Kiss

Yup, seems English speaking people need to learn how to kiss and expect to learn online. I guess pajamas parties with you and your friends practicing making out on pillows is outdated. So low-tech, lol. Wait, it seems it’s not just English speakers that want to know how to kiss, search topic # 9 on Baidu was “How to kiss”.

I can honestly say that the thought of learning how to kiss via the Internet has never crossed my mind. If I had to guess I’d have thought “How to make money” would have been #1 and it didn’t even make the top 10 list.

I think I’ll go check out some of those search results. Not for myself, of course, I’ve never had any complaints but I do know a number of guys that sure could use a few lessons.

And while on the topic of kissing, Happy Valentine’s Day!
