Manoir des Sables, Orford, Quebec

29 January 2007

This weekend found us enjoying a Christmas/birthday gift of an overnight package at Manoir des Sables, Orford, Quebec. Located about 1 hour 15 mins. from Montreal in the heart of the Eastern Townships we arrived at about lunch on Saturday.

We checked in to a beautiful room but quickly decided that an in-suite whirlpool bath was a necessity. The hotel was more than willing to oblige and we moved to an area called The Chateau Section. The room included the whirlpool as well as a living room area, with kitchenette, and a fireplace.

We decided to check out the hotel and found ourselves booking massages at the Clinique Algotherapie for later that day. Directly in front of the clinique we found the workout room, the pool area and the community whirlpool. Not far, on the same level, was a game room with ping pong, shuffleboard and Miss Pacman.

After relaxing in the whirlpool in our room, we headed down for 1 hour Californian style massages and then on to the dining room for our supper which was included in the package. The meal included soup or salad, a choice of appetizer, main course, desert and tea or coffee. Our evening consisted of watching the hockey game, more time in the whirlpool, a movie and then sleep. It was an early morning since I choose the side of the bed facing the window which happened to be facing east, however the gorgeous sunshine and breathtaking view more than made up for not being able to sleep in. Breakfast, also included in the package, was buffet style with a vast variety of choices from healthy to old fashioned bacon and eggs. I went off to get a 1/2 hour facial then returned to the room to pack.

As with any vacation, it was too short. We chose to forgo any of the numerous available activities skiing, skating, hiking and spent our 24 hours relaxing.

We’ve already decided to return but plan on doing so either late in the spring or early in the fall so that we can take advantage of the stunning landscape and either hike or bike around the area or maybe even play a round of golf.

Check out some of the on-site and local activities, there’s sure to be something to please everyone.

Take Care!
